HRH AOR 3 – The Steel goes to Wales

20150312_HRHAOR3_seanlarkin.co.uk_0034

We were very kindly asked to be the opening act at this year’s HRH AOR Festival in Pwllheli, North Wales. It was a superb weekend of hard rocking and heavy drinking (cups of tea, mainly). As well as taking to the stage again for forty minutes of ROCK, we got to catch up with the boys in VEGA, Gareth from Serpentine and lots of other cool people. One of the highlights was finally meeting Rob Evans of AOR Underground, someone who really helped to get us noticed in the rock press last year. Cheers again Rob!

You can check out a whole load of photos from our set right now!

In between checking out the other acts and filling our faces with grub from the excellent on-site catering, we even managed to fit in the time for a few interviews. Thanks go to Jess at Get Your Rock Out and Amber at Midlands Metalheads.

In the studio and working on the debut album

As well as preparing for our appearance HRH AOR 3, we’ve been working on material for our as-yet-untitled debut album. We wanted to give you a taster of what’s to come, so here’s a clip of a work in progress called ‘Together As One Tonight‘. The demo has been very cleverly synced to rehearsal footage by our multi-talented drummer, Mr Garth Vickers. Further details about the album will follow later in the year.

Shaft of Steel’s triumphant return to the stage

Shortly after the rock press started picking up on our debut EP last year, we were asked by the mighty VEGA to open for them and Newman on the London date of their UK tour. This was quite a coup for us, as not only was this our first gig with our new line up, but it was the first gig that most of us had played in over five years!

We hardly expected anyone to be there for us as the opening act, but the room was completely packed and the reaction from the crowd was unlike anything we’ve experienced before. It was great to see so many friends and family there and the lads in VEGA and Newman were all sound as a pound and delivered a night of top class melodic rock. It’s nights like this that make all the hard work worthwhile. Check out the gig diary video for a taste of what it was like.

Debut EP press round up

Happy new year! First of all, apologies for the lack of updates. The second half of last year was quite a whirlwind for us here at Steel HQ. We finally released our debut EP on the 29th of September and the reaction was amazing and totally unexpected! All of our favourite music magazines picked up on it and we were astounded at the number of fantastic reviews that came our way. Here are a selection of our favourites.
